1984 was an ambitious effort on the part of the winter trimester’s Theatre II class in 2008-2009.  Based on George Orwell’s famous novel, this play was chosen as a result of the exploration of issues important to this class.  

When themes of justice, individualism, social equality, and the government’s role in society surfaced over and over during our process-driven dramatic activities at the beginning of the trimester, it was clear to me that 1984 would be the perfect play for this class to produce.
 
With a grant provided from REF (Rockford Education Foundation), the class & I tackled a condensed version of this production and the show remains one of the most ambitious and gripping plays produced by a Theatre II class! (See below for more details.)
