Theatre II productions are the result of a journey of dramatic discovery with Ms. Price’s advanced level acting students. Each show produced and performed in this class is very process-based, and developed from the interests and passions of the specific class of students each trimester. This year’s second trimester Theatre II class has explored themes of love, loss, acceptance, and hate in the groundbreaking drama, The Laramie Project.
After the brutal beating of a young gay student in Laramie, Wyoming, the members of the Tectonic Theatre Project traveled from New York to Wyoming to conduct hundreds of interviews with the people of the town. Those interviews comprise the text of the play, providing various perspectives on the tragic event that gripped a town and a nation.
The Laramie Project was the first show to be produced in our newly renovated black box theatre! Special thanks to Matt Harris, Gayla Fox, Jules Crawford, and the Theatre II students of Winter trimester, 2011 who helped make our new space happen!
