Day 1 (Tuesday, January 6, 2015):
1.Ms. Price led students in getting-to-know-you activities.
2.Discussed purpose of course: 1.) to learn technical theatre & design through DOING it (learn then DO). and 2.) to be the student group responsible for the Oxford theatre and events (this semester)
3.Students received Syllabus and discussed course schedule.
4.Discussed differing roles of Ms. Price (teacher - classroom) and Mr. Gutkowski (“boss” - scene shop)
5.Discussed how this course will give students many life/transferrable skills. (tools, communication, problem-solving, creativity, etc.)
6.Students participated in a name game.
Homework:
1.Signed Syllabus & Parent Form (due Friday)
2.Bring in a class binder and also paint clothes to keep in the scene shop (due Friday) - BEST is clothes that you DON’T take the time to change into, but rather clothes that can go OVER your existing clothes.
Day 2 (Wednesday, January 7, 2015):
1.Students filled out a Survey regarding their areas of interest in this course (i.e. costumes, sets, etc.)
2.Name Game
3.Team Building Initiative: Leader Blind Trust Walk (Goal: 100% Trust)
4.De-briefed activity and how it applied to this course/working in a scene-shop/interactions with eachother.

Day 3 (Thursday, January 8, 2015):
1.Students reflected in their process journals about their experience yesterday with the Blind Trust Walk. Discussed. (Also discussed difference between a “Goal” and a “Task”...and how it applies in this class.)
2.Students did a “Gallery Walk” - they looked at 30+ different photos from moments on stage (from various shows) and reflected on what dramatic elements made the design/moment on stage interesting or intriguing. Students shared out with group.
3.Discussed: As designers & technicians in theatre, we always want to...elicit audience response by effectively & creatively creating the “world of the play”.
4.Discussed: 1.) In theatre, designers/technicians must work with their given “space”. 2.) There are different types of performance “spaces”, and 3.) the “space” impacts HOW a story is told on stage.
5.Watched: “Types of Stages” (if ABSENT, watch before returning to class - you are responsible for this information whether you were present in class or not!)
6.Discussed how there is a “language” of theatre that students of theatre, as well as actors, technicians, designers, and backstage crew must know and understand in order to work in theatre. These are discussed in the following video...
7.Watched: “Stage Terms” (If ABSENT, watch BEFORE returning to class - you are responsible for this information whether you were present in class or not!)
8. Did a quick review activity in groups. Goal: 100% COOPERATION.

Day 4 (Friday, January 9, 2015):
1.Checked for homework that was due: 1.) Signed Syllabus, 2.) Parent Contact Form, 3.) Class Binder, 4.) Paint Clothes for scene shop...If you didn’t bring today, BE SURE TO BRING ON MONDAY!
2.Did a group warm-up (“Equilateral Triangle”) and discussed application to this class.
3.Ms. Price passed out Handout Packets: Types of Stages and Stage Directions and Stage Terms (Students put these resources in their class binders - most of the information was in the videos we already watched, but some was new. Students should read, and keep as a resource.)
4.Discussed the “Problem Solving Process” expected of students in this course. (POST)
5.Discussed “types of mistakes” acceptable for students in this course (Creative mistakes vs. Punishing mistakes)
6.Ms. Price set up parameters for “Stage Scavenger Hunt” and students competed in pairs in a “hunt” in the auditorium/onstage/backstage to find each term on this Scavenger Hunt Handout.
